How FoxSell calculates bundle analytics and usage

FoxSell analytics are focused on sales that happen through FoxSell bundle features. They are meant to help you understand bundle performance, not replace your Shopify reports or accounting tools.

This guide explains the three numbers merchants most often ask about: revenue, bundle units sold, and monthly bundle usage.

Quick definitions

Revenue generated is the total tracked bundle sales value FoxSell has calculated for the selected date range.

Bundle units sold is the number of bundle units FoxSell has tracked for the selected date range.

Bundle type distribution shows the same tracked bundle sales grouped by bundle type, such as fixed bundles or mix and match bundles.

Usage / monthly bundle sales is the total value of products sold through FoxSell bundle features during your monthly usage period. This helps determine which FoxSell plan matches your bundle sales volume.

How revenue is calculated

FoxSell calculates bundle revenue by adding up the tracked sales value from bundle order line items in the date range you select.

In simple terms:

Revenue generated = tracked discounted bundle line item value for the selected date range

A few important notes:

  • This is bundle revenue, not your store's total Shopify revenue.
  • It only includes sales FoxSell identifies as coming through FoxSell bundle features.
  • It is based on the discounted bundle line item value available from Shopify for those tracked bundle orders.
  • It is not profit, margin, payout, or an accounting net sales report.
  • It may not match Shopify reports exactly because Shopify reports can include non-bundle products, shipping, taxes, gift cards, refunds, edited orders, manual orders, and other adjustments depending on the report you are viewing.

For financial reconciliation, taxes, payouts, refunds, and accounting, Shopify and your accounting tools should remain your source of truth.

Are discounts included?

Yes. FoxSell uses the discounted line item value Shopify provides for the products inside a tracked bundle order.

This means discounts that are already reflected in Shopify's discounted line item totals are included in the calculation as a lower bundle sales value. This can include bundle/product discounts and order discount codes when Shopify allocates those discounts to the bundle line items.

Example: if a bundle's products would normally total $100, but Shopify's discounted line item values for that bundle total $85 after discounts, FoxSell tracks $85 as bundle sales value for that bundle order.

Are refunds included?

FoxSell analytics are based on tracked bundle order line items. Refunds are not shown as a separate financial adjustment in this analytics view.

If a bundle order is tracked by FoxSell, its bundle sales value and bundle units can still appear in FoxSell analytics even if you later refund that order in Shopify. For refunded sales, net sales, payouts, and accounting, use Shopify reports and your accounting tools.

Does FoxSell show gross sales or net sales?

FoxSell analytics do not show your full Shopify gross sales or your accounting net sales.

The revenue view shows tracked bundle sales value from FoxSell bundle orders, using discounted bundle line item values. It does not include your store's non-bundle revenue, and it is not adjusted like a Shopify net sales or payout report for refunds, taxes, shipping, payment fees, and other accounting items.

How bundle units sold are calculated

FoxSell calculates bundle units sold by adding up the bundle quantities tracked in the selected date range.

In simple terms:

Bundle units sold = tracked bundle quantity for the selected date range

Example: if a customer buys 2 of the same fixed bundle in one order, that counts as 2 bundle units sold.

Bundle units sold are not the same as individual products inside the bundle. If a bundle contains 5 products and a customer buys 1 bundle, FoxSell counts that as 1 bundle unit sold, not 5 product units.

Refunds are not shown as separate negative bundle units in this analytics view. For refunded quantities and inventory/accounting reconciliation, use Shopify.

How bundle type distribution works

Bundle type distribution uses the same tracked bundle sales, then groups them by bundle type.

For each bundle type, FoxSell shows:

  • Bundle units sold for that type
  • Revenue generated by that type

This helps you compare which bundle formats are performing best in your store.

How usage / monthly bundle sales are calculated

FoxSell plan limits are based on monthly bundle sales volume.

In simple terms:

Monthly bundle sales = total value of products sold through FoxSell bundle features during the monthly usage period

Usage does not mean FoxSell takes a percentage of your sales. FoxSell plans use fixed pricing, and monthly bundle sales help determine whether your current plan fits your bundle volume.

If your store goes over the monthly bundle sales limit for your plan, FoxSell may recommend moving to the next plan. You will receive a grace period to make that transition without service interruption.

Shopify remains the source of truth for app subscription charges, invoices, prorations, credits, and billing approval screens.

Why numbers can differ from Shopify

It is normal for FoxSell analytics and Shopify reports to show different totals.

FoxSell analytics only look at bundle sales tracked through FoxSell. Shopify reports can include your entire store activity, including non-bundle sales and adjustments such as taxes, shipping, discounts, refunds, and order edits.

If you are comparing the two, make sure you are using the same date range and checking whether your Shopify report includes items outside FoxSell bundle sales.

What to use FoxSell analytics for

FoxSell analytics are best for understanding bundle performance:

  • Which bundles are generating revenue
  • How many bundle units customers are buying
  • Which bundle types are working best
  • Whether your bundle sales volume fits your current plan

For accounting, taxes, payouts, refunds, net sales, and official financial reporting, use Shopify and your accounting tools.
