Why a Multi Variant Bundle Shows Sold Out After Editing Products

If a Multi Variant Bundle suddenly shows as sold out, unavailable, or has 0 inventory after you edited products or variants in Shopify, the bundle may still be pointing to an old Shopify variant that no longer exists.

This can happen even when your option count, variant count, and product count are all within normal limits.

Common symptoms

You may see one or more of these:

  • The bundle product shows Sold out or 0 inventory even though the component products have stock
  • A specific bundle variant stops working while other bundle variants still work
  • The bundle worked earlier, then broke after products, options, variants, or SKUs were edited in Shopify
  • Re-saving or replacing the affected product mapping in FoxSell restores the correct inventory

Why this happens

Multi Variant Bundles store the exact Shopify variant IDs used for each bundle option.

When a product or variant is deleted, recreated, duplicated, or significantly changed in Shopify, Shopify may create a new variant ID. The product title, option name, SKU, or image may look the same, but it is technically a different Shopify variant.

If the bundle still points to the old deleted variant ID, FoxSell cannot read valid inventory for that component. The affected bundle variant can then appear unavailable or sold out.

How to identify this issue

This is most likely the cause if the issue started after you made product changes in Shopify, especially if you:

  • Deleted and recreated a product or variant
  • Changed product options, such as size, color, flavour, or pack size
  • Duplicated a product and replaced the original product in Shopify
  • Bulk edited variants or imported products using a CSV or another app
  • Archived or removed a component product that was used inside the bundle

A quick check is to compare the affected bundle variant in FoxSell with the current product variants in Shopify. If the product or variant was replaced in Shopify, update the bundle mapping so it uses the current version.

How to fix it

  1. Open FoxSell Bundles Plus in your Shopify admin.
  2. Open the affected Multi Variant Bundle.
  3. Find the bundle variant that is showing sold out or not behaving correctly.
  4. Remove the affected component product or variant from that bundle variant.
  5. Add the correct current Shopify product or variant again.
  6. Save the bundle.
  7. Check the generated bundle product in Shopify and confirm it is active, published to the right sales channels, and showing the expected inventory.

In most cases, reselecting the current component variant and saving the bundle refreshes the mapping and restores the correct inventory.

Best practice after editing Shopify products

After deleting, recreating, duplicating, or bulk editing products used in a Multi Variant Bundle, open the related bundle in FoxSell and reselect the affected component variants. This keeps the bundle connected to the current Shopify variant IDs.

If you are not sure which component changed, contact us through the in-app chat and share the bundle name plus the affected variant. We can help you pinpoint it.
